Padraig was a committed vice president of our club, a club he joined in 1962 on his arrival in London from his native Ahascragh, in Co Galway. He was a member of the club’s first senior hurling championship-winning side in 1965 and he has been involved in one way or another ever since. A former secretary of the club (1970 – 1972) and chairman (1975), his abiding passion for the club and generous support contributed immensely to the success of the club over the past 60 years.
In business, Padraig established and built a very successful Construction company alongside his wife Mary, employing many fellow Gaels.
Golf was also his passion, and Padraig was a prominent member and supporter of the Galway Association Golf Society (GAGS). He played a prominent part each year in supporting the annual Club Golf Day.
On behalf of the club executive, club members and former members, we extend our deepest sympathy to his family on his passing.
Patrick (Padraig) Colohan was laid to rest on Tuesday 23rd May in Epsom Cemetery, Ashley Rd, Epsom, Surrey following Requiem Mass at St Christopher’s Catholic Church, Dallas Rd, Cheam.
