St Gabriels on the double!
We saw our intermediate and senior teams in championship action on Saturday at Greenford. In the first game, St Gabriels ‘B’ had a 2-point win over a determined Granuaile side on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-10. Adam Bookle performed well in defence along with Eoghan Pierce (2nd half), while Hugh Conlon, Neil Rogers and Nicholas Timothy were the best of the forwards. It’s two from two for Paddy Mullally’s charges although stiffer challenges lie ahead with Fr. Murphy’s next up in Rd 3 on Sunday, 11th August with a 4 pm throw-in at McGovern Park.
The seniors took on Thomas McCurtains in a repeat of the recent Division 1 League final and ran out eventual winners on a scoreline of 1-24 to 1-15. Niall Geoghegan and Niall Eames were always in control at the back while Cathal O Carroll excelled in the centre-back role, ably assisted by Stephen Whelan and Cathal Gardiner. Robbie Murphy was in fine form at midfield firing over a brace of inspirational points in the second half. Sean Glynn, Rory Lodge (1st half) and Eoin Kelly put in solid performances up front. Next Saturday we are in action in Rd 3 of the SHC when we take on Robert Emmetts at McGovern Park at 3.30 pm
