St Gabriels – London Senior Hurling Champions for 2024

Congratulations and well done to the team on a fine effort against the reigning Connacht Champions in Roscommon. We are proud of the lads and their performance. We were delighted to see such great support at Dr Hyde Park, with supporters travelling from all parts of the country to cheer the lads on. A special thanks to all who made the journey and it was great that many of you joined us back at the Abbey Hotel afterwards for the post-match meal.  Overall a great effort by the management team of Neil Rogers, Eoin Kelly, Frankie Tierney and Paddy Mullally. A couple of breaks on the day and it could have been a different story!

It’s been a great year for St Gabriels and the club finds itself back on top in London with a league and championship double. We will now enjoy the next few months before turning our focus to defending our crown next year and perhaps entertaining the Mayo champions at Emerald Park this time next year.

The Christy Ring Cup hurler of the year is London’s Jack Goulding. The Kerry native and former St Gabriels player was named at full-forward on the Champion 15 selection in recognition of his prolific return of 5-50 in their five matches. On Friday night, he received the honour from Uachtaran CLG Jarlath Burns at a gala black-tie event in Croke Park.  Comhghairdeachas Jack

We share the sad news of the passing of a former club great, MICHEÁL T. LINNANE Crannagh, Gort, Co. Galway. Micheál passed peacefully in the tender care of the staff of University Hospital Galway on the 25th of September, 2024, after a short illness bravely borne. Micheál’s funeral took place in his native Gort at the weekend. We sincerely offer our condolences to Micheál’s family and the extended Linnane family. May he rest in Peace.

St Gabriels take on Kilburn Gaels on Sunday next for a place in the final of this year’s Capital Concrete Senior Hurling Championship after the final round of games was completed in the group stage—St Gabriels top the group with Brothers Pearse in second, Robert Emmets in third place. Kilburn Gaels confirmed their participation after a sensational win over a below-par Robert Emmett’s.

This year’s hurling semi-finals occur at McGovern Park, Ruislip on Sunday next 29th of September. The first senior semi-final between St Gabriels and Kilburn Gaels has a 1 pm throw-in, this game is followed by the other semi-final between Brothers Pearse and Robert Emmetts at 2.30 pm.
Meanwhile, St Gabriels ‘B’  contest the Montore Construction Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final with Fulham Irish following the conclusion of the competition’s group stage. The Intermediate semi-final is slated for a 4 pm throw-in. Winner on the day rules apply.

St Gabriels continue their preparations with training at Grasshoppers on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.30 pm.
