St. Gabriels secured back-to-back championship victories with an impressive 10-point win over Robert Emmetts at McGovern Park.

St. Gabriels made a strong start, with Sean Glynn scoring the opening goal in the eighth minute to establish an early 1-3 to 0-1 lead. Robert Emmetts responded with their first goal in the 13th minute, but Gabriels kept creating chances.

Niall Eames struck a fantastic point from play in the 18th minute, while Glynn and Alan Dunphy added more in the 23rd minute. Emmetts added their second goal a minute later, but Gabriel’s quickly regained control.

The decisive moment of the first half arrived in the 27th minute. Rory Lodge broke forward and provided the assist for Jack Gilsenan, who finished superbly for Gabriel’s second goal. The holders followed that with four unanswered points to lead 2-13 to 2-4 at half-time.

Gabriels managed their advantage well after the restart. Gilsenan turned provider with an excellent assist for a fine Glynn point, while the defence worked hard to limit Emmetts’ opportunities.

Although Emmetts found the net again late in the contest, Gabriels remained firmly in control. Glynn completed the scoring with the final puck of the match, drilling a placed ball to the net to round off a 3-19 to 3-9 victory.

The result moves Gabriels another step closer to the championship semi-finals. A point against Thomas McCurtains in the final group game will secure their place in the last four as the club continues its pursuit of a third consecutive title.
