League success as St Gabriel’s look ahead to semi-final

St Gabriel’s Hurling Club has had a positive week, with our seniors securing the Division 1 Hurling League title last weekend after a 3-26 to 3-15 victory over Kilburn Gaels. They followed that success with a comfortable win over Thomas McCurtain’s yesterday in Round 5 of the Barhale Senior Hurling Championship group stage. The defending champions will put their title on the line when they face Sean Treacys in the Championship semi-final on 18th October.

Attention now turns to this afternoon’s Montore Construction Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final, with St Gabriel’s B taking on Father Murphy’s at McGovern Park, Ruislip, at 3 pm.

The sides’ recent group-stage meeting at Wormwood Scrubs produced a thrilling finish, with St. Gabriel’s edging it 3-17 to 3-16. Having trailed by six points in the second half, St. Gabriel’s fought back, with Eoin Kelly leading the scoring before Andrew Hogan struck the decisive goal in the closing stages. Both teams were missing a number of players that day, and another closely contested encounter is in prospect this afternoon.
Today offers our intermediate team an excellent opportunity to build on that success and secure a place in next Sunday’s Montore Intermediate Hurling Championship final. We wish the players and management the very best—come along to McGovern Park, Ruislip today and get behind the lads!
